Working with very detailed and demanding city development standards created significant challenges for this project. The client also wanted an economical design that would allow the buildings to have split ownership on 2 tax lots.
The solution used the “courtyard” space to give the required setback separation for each building and lot, while acting as a unifying design element. This courtyard “oasis” gives the occupants a nice outdoor space adjacent to a high traffic street. The buildings utilize historic design features, details & materials with a current interpretation to meet the city standards and still stract professional business and medical users.
